Sexist Comments by Hillary Clinton Supporters directed at Jane Sanders

Ironically “Jane Sanders” is Attacked by Sexist HRC Supporters

Apparently there are HillaryBros too. Hillary Clinton supporters take to Twitter to attack Jane Sanders.

It’s amazing that for months and months the Hillary Clinton campaign and her followers scream “sexist” at every negative comment even ones on her policies, and then in one night can shatter that whole narrative as well as the one of the “Bernie Bro” by attacking Jane Sanders looks, her appearance, the kind of clothes she wears, or her weight.

This attack definitely makes the Clinton campaign look very desperate. Many believe they attacked Jane to get Bill Clinton off the trending list.
user 7Pascal in a reddit thread said:

There’s some really awful stuff on there. Strangely enough if Bernie supporters had said it, we’d be called sexist Berniebros. Lets defend the unshakeable defense she gave of Bernie!

EDIT: The Clinton campaign loves these hit and run kind of attacks. They perpetuate things and then when they’re called out they call fowl for being “attacked”. If we don’t defend Bernie and Jane, people will believe we can’t defend it. #JANEFORFLOTUS

Here’s some of the horrific comments being lunged at Jane Sanders by Team Clinton:

Here are some tweets from people outraged, and even some Hillary supporters were telling others to back off:

Here’s some of the tweets defending the potential future FLOTUS:

Nobody really reported on the anti Muslim venom the Clintools were spitting after Michigan. You would have thought they were Trump folk.

    • thisisbasil

Aaaaand we have both veiled anti-Semitism (“what’s someone like *him* going to the Vatican?”) and straight up racism (“cp time” with a guy dressed in minstrel on stage). I’m so over the House of Clinton.

  • Kathy Gray

Ever notice when losers can’t win they always start name calling? Jane O’Meara Sanders is a down to earth REAL woman, and educated without being a corporate tool. These ugly comments from $Hilliary’s fake paid followers just shows how desperate that Republican with a (D) behind her name.

    • websamurai

It’s the classical response in psychology when those people cannot make an argument based on facts and to denigrate to put the “opponent” on the defensive.

      • Dave Girvin

How “Republican” of them… oh right, Hillary supporters…

        • websamurai

They complain about Bernie supporters as being sexists but they are worse because they attack a spouse who is not a candidate.

        • Eleanor LeTourneau

          Acting like Trump.

          • Mississippi Truth

And they have the nerve to warn us about Trump! At least most of us can see his kind of trash coming!

        • Mississippi Truth

Nope, you got it right the first time! They are Republicans!

        • Shafiq Islam

          Yeah, one and the same.

      • Dai Uy

Not unlike accusing Senator Sanders of being unqualified for the office of POTUS, and then coming unglued when he dares to defend himself with a list of her actions that should disqualify Secretary Clinton for that office. If she could she would charge him with lรจse-majestรฉ.

        • Amythist

The other day, I mentioned that Hillary has made many unfounded attacks on Bernie and that he shouldn’t have to keep silently taking that from her. Then I had some Hillary supporter say to me “First of all, take off that fucking skirt.”

Oh yeah and we’re supposed to be the sexist ones. I think Jane is beautiful and she reminds me of an old friend of mine.

          • jan

Jane reminds me of my sister whom I love dearly.

      • Paul Mcdonald

You realize that the Twitter accounts this article references are not pro-Hillary sites – they are parody sites. Some of the posts are vile – in an attempt to smear her. Probably set up by a Bernie supporter. The sites are anti Hillary sites. So – Bernie fans create the insults – Bernie fans get to reap the outrage – and thousands of people believe that Hillary supporters are bashing Jane sanders when 5 minutes of checking would prove its untrue.

        • websamurai

Paul, you do realize you are in denial, right?

    • Mississippi Truth

So that is what is going on!

  • Victoria Gutshall

Beauty is in the soul, and Jane Sanders is BEAUTIFUL!

  • Topbrick

No mention of course, that Jane Sanders is a PhD. They’re threatened because she
is an intelligent and articulate surrogate for Bernie. Jane is very pretty. Are we to assume that all Hillary supporter are thin? What a double standard.

    • Mississippi Truth

Scrawny, Aneroxic, Nope a lot of them are bigger than I am!

  • Linann M Singh

Who said you had to be a size 2, and spend thousands of dollars in plastic makeovers to be the First Lady? When I hear the word First Lady, the first one that comes to mind is Eleanor Roosevelt. She wasn’t a beauty queen, she didn’t have to be, she was amazing just being Eleanor, and a damn great First Lady. If you’re going to judge a person ability to do a job based on how they look, the unemployment rate in this country would be off the scales. Hillary supporters are going after Jane because they have nothing else, and if these are the people Hillary represents, this is just another reason not to vote for her. Bernie or Bust!!!!

    • Angel Tibbs

I wish I had more than one like to give your comment. Hadn’t thought of Eleanor. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Linann M Singh

        Thank you,

    • Sonya Swyt

      Fu@k yeah!

    • Joey D. Gurberto

I agree with u. so the US wants a first lady who looks nice but stupid and have stinky soul OR a first lady who looks like original lady with the brain and kindness? attacking someone over their outer look is the lowest level one can reach

      • Mississippi Truth

I don’t think Hillary is good looking, She is just the European model! I didn’t buy into the White Beauty Myth! I was educated in an Afrocentic school. All my dolls were Black with crinkly hair. I got the Julia doll. I was raised better!

        • WeAreNotAmused

I also had a Julia doll. I have since purchased two more as vintage dolls, as well as several other gorgeous black dolls. This petty fixation upon looks cheapens all of us. Shillary looks pretty scary these days, as well, since strident, snarling people never look attractive. I like Jane Sanders’ every woman looks; she exudes warmth and intelligence. I’d say her clothes look more Ulla Popken than Walmart, not that I ever set foot in that disgusting haven for slave labor products sold by slaves. I signed the anti-Walmart pledge years ago. My own clothes come from Blue Fish, Flax and Oh My Gauze.

    • Mississippi Truth

Linann M Singh! You tell it like it is! Thank You

    • Michael Smith

Have to agree! She was my first thought too…:)

    • Lisa Lindsey

So true about Eleanor. She would have been crucified in social media today. She had her critics back then too, but she “converted” a lot them when they met her in person. The nation adored her.

    • Shafiq Islam

Bernie and Jane don’t rake in tens of millions a year from big businesses and foreign governments, so they can’t afford the expensive clothes the Clintons wear. They just look like most Americans–what’s wrong with that?

  • Angel Tibbs

Tell the truth about Hillary’s record – you sexist! Insult the future FLOTUS with insults a middle school girl would be too classy to employ – and you’re a FEMINIST? I am an old 55 year old lady from a progressive state who knows what REAL sexism is. And it’s coming from Hillary’s coven, not Bernie. You should be ashamed of yourselves, you fake feminists. And you’re not fooling anybody but yourselves.

    • Ann Anderson

      Very well said Angel !

    • Mississippi Truth

I am 55 years old. I know all about those Miss Ann’s! Don’t give them Hillbots the time of day! Don’t let them raise your blood pressure. Just tell them that the days of ” The Help” are over! They will act dumb. Then say Angela Davis , Alice Walker and Then ask them about Shirley Chisholm! Drop the Mike and walk away!

    • Victoria

I agree with what you stated but I take exception to the word “coven”. Most witches are feminists, you know, and as someone who is both I would respectfully ask you not to use that word derogatorily. Thanks.

      • Angel Tibbs

        So mote it be

        • Victoria

          ๐Ÿ™‚

  • CynDoyle

Jane Sanders has both heart and class. To me, she is one of the most beautiful human beings ever!

    • CynDoyle

Forgot to also say how intelligent she is. After all, she did marry Bernie Sanders!

      • Sharon Dewey

And has a Ph.D., which says more about her intelligence than who she married… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Most of the comments by the “Hilbullies” aren’t sexistโ€”they’re snobbish. Which reflects the fact that richer Democrats prefer her.

    • WeAreNotAmused

My wealthy relatives who are Democrats detest the Clintons.

      • There are exceptions to the rule–I know some too. I like to think of them as the sane rich. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • twoskiff

like any of that crap is from the Hilary camp. Trolls trying to make her look bad.

    • robbdaman

Sure, because all Hillary supporters only give out puppies and sunshine.

    • Charlie Frazine

As a Berner myself, I really must say that this probably constitutes a lot of her camp, or even much at all

  • websamurai

So Jane should look like Trump’s wife? Her clothes and physical appearance are what in general women are judged by. Her education, professional life, intelligence, public speaking, etc. would be a plus in the WH because women politicians and wives of prime ministers abroad are all university educated, not a bunch of former models looking pretty.

  • missceeeeeee

The American people have not had a chance to hear Dr. Sanders speak. If the media ever decides to interview her in any meaningful way, the public will find out just how wonderful Mary Jane O’Meara Sanders really is. But until then, Hillary true believers will be true believers.

    • robtal

The Hillary supporters just cannot believe their pay to play political hero may not be the choice of the people. She may end up the president but not because the people want her but just because her claws are in the money pit so deep that she owns the scum bucket process.

  • Mark Chang

Patrick Curl realizes that @2016HillaryGo is a troll account probably by a Bernie bro?

  • Leona Wescott Dwoske

I have never seen a political couple who I thought I could be friends with. EXCEPT for Bernie and Jane Sanders.. All the others are always so fake looking and full of themselves. The Sanders are honest, down to earth people who care more about others than fitting the public persona as to how people who don’t matter think a political couple should look. Often in life the people who are what the society may think are the least attractive are the best people to have in your life. Maybe it’s because their priorities are more focused on helping others than making themselves look glamorous.

    • Sharon Dewey

Excellent points! I agree! They are “real” people. And honest people. People with strong moral characters, too — They haven’t let themselves get corrupted by the system, though I’m sure they have had many opportunities.

  • Leona Wescott Dwoske

If Hillary is so attractive why did Bill seek out Monica?

    • Michelle Truax

because you know Bill only married her for money and political gain. Fairly common with people who are born with silver spoons in their mouths. There is no love between them.

      • Nancy Gagne Walton

I guess you forget that both Bill and Hill were born without the silver spoon–Bill was born of a single mother and Hill’s father was an average Joe.

        • Tina

Nope, a military officer is what he was.

          • Nancy Gagne Walton

No, according to Wikipedia, he was a textile retailer, owning a small business.

          • Tina

And that is far from the “everyman” trope … small business people are not a dime a dozen in the U.S. …

      • Nancy Gagne Walton

“Her father, Hugh Ellsworth Rodham (1911โ€“1993), was of Welsh and English descent;[5] he managed a successful small business in the textile industry.[6] Her mother, Dorothy Emma Howell (1919โ€“2011), was a homemaker of English, Scottish, French-Canadian, and Welsh descent.” per Wikipedia.

      • Nancy Gagne Walton

And you can’t say there is no love between them, as you cannot read their minds. You are just repeating gossip.

    • Charlie Frazine

stop focusing on whether either is “attractive”. Bill cheated (and also assaulted) because he is a bad person. Hillary is a bad person for covering those assaults up.

  • honoredebalzac

Disgusting and childish. This election is a friggin’ circus in both parties.

    • Wolfstarking

Clinton goons are making it a circus from the DEM side. They did the same back in 2008 they’re just as horrible as the woman they support.

      • honoredebalzac

I remember that Wolfstalking. I don’t care for Clinton, but this is behind being sub-human.

  • reginabee

Jane Sanders is charming and lovely and a beautiful person all around. What is wrong with the world is exactly what is coming out of the mouths of HRC supporters who are somehow claiming to be political experts by using disparaging comments about someone who they will never even hold a candle to. Just like HRC is laughing and carrying on about Bernie’s character and trying to make him seem “unelectable’ because he is the only pure and honest candidate and throughout his career has put to shame many politicians, both democrats and republicans because he is not like them, not for sale and not beholden to the bribery and corruption that takes place in our government. #BERNIEORBUST #WETHEPEOPLE

  • baruchzed

When people resort to commenting on someone’s appearance you know a few things.

    1) The person making the comments can’t find anything else to criticize
    2) The person commenting is not using whatever intelligence they may have
    3) The person making the comment has self-esteem issues.

    • Mississippi Truth

Four things: You wouldn’t want them to sneak up on you in broad daylight!

  • StephenCataldo

This whole conversations strikes me as a good example of how unhealthy we’ve gotten at amplifying the voices of very, very few trolls and jerks. Unless I’m missing something, neither Bernie Bros nor Jane Sanders-haters are real people you meet in any significant numbers at live events, we just keep echo-chambering the jerks.

    • Charlie Frazine

agreed. I doubt there is much substance to the amount of people saying awful things like this about Jane. Bernie fans, whom I count myself among, are usually very good and kind people, like Bernie! Hillary fans? Duped by Hillary, sad and heartbroken when they find out to truth, and sometimes unable to accept it.

  • Chels

I’d just like to say that Jane Sanders is free to do with herself what SHE deems is okay to do with herself. Anybody shaming her obviously is not comfortable with someone having different ideals than their own. It’s not her job to put on a show for anyone. Wish people would stop making everything about THEM… like its HER BODY for crying out loud, if it offends you, I’d say that is a personal problem. Let the woman be who she wants to be, not that she needs any of your permissions anyway. This is why nobody is comfortable in their own skin. It’s so freaking petty I can’t stand to know I live in a world like this. Let people be original, let people be uncut, let them be themselves. You might learn something from someone who isnt afraid to be uniquely who they want to be, inside and out.

  • Claudia Gomez

Wow! What kind of putrid human being would say such things about this woman. There is nothing fake about Jane. What you see is what you get and what I see is all good. Hillary can never even come close to the character of this woman even on Jane’s worse day. The facts about Hillary are scathing but only the lowest kind of breed would go down this level of talk. It is really more of a reflection of the person who talks trash because they are trash.

  • Kate Somerville

Reminds me the kind of remarks one sees on YouTube. Which remind me of someone home, alone, crippled maybe physically or mentally, full of negativity; that’s their only outlet. Then it reminds me of young kids, just cutting their teeth on the freedom of hate speech, kind of, in public.

  • Charlie Frazine

Please please do not then go, in fighting back, attacking Hillary now! Hillary has faced gender-based attacks on her person a lot to. Please do not add to it to defend Jane! Hillary is a horrible person, but we must stay focused, and stay feminist! Be strong, kind, and stay good berners! Bernie 2016!!

    • Sharon Dewey

Good advice! I’ve never attacked Hillary’s appearance or made crude and cruel jokes about her. I don’t tolerate sexism or any of the “isms” toward anyone. I only attack the behaviors, the record, the facts around her candidacy and her past roles in our government in fact based critiques. And there is PLENTY of material there! ๐Ÿ˜€ #BernieSanders2016!!!

  • Juli

Bullies are disgusting cowards on so many levels. At least she is shopping like a normal everyday person, drives herself and flies coach instead of buying 65,000 dollar dresses, renting charter jets, hiring personal drivers or having dinners that cost 353,000 dollars a plate! #Janeforflotus #stillbernie #stepdownhillary #hillNO #HE’SwithUS

  • Eve Mallett

They have nerve talking about the way Jane dresses!

  • Letitia C. Page

We all know these comments are sexist and elitist. We don’t even need to address them. We simply need to champion Jane, for her accomplishments, intelligence and beauty. Let’s just put that message out there and those other people will be standing alone in a sea of posts triumphing Jane. They’re going to look pretty
    stupid all on their own.

  • Mikaele Baker

The twitter user “Hillary Clinton” is actually an anti-Clinton page that has taken her name. You might want to take it off before a Clintonite uses that to try and discredit this article.

  • Vern2

It has always been my impression that Clinton has fundamentally 2 camps in her base of supporters–those who are partisan hacks whose political consciousness extends to cheering for the team. The most they can say about Clinton is she is “qualified” and the wealthy who are confident that Clinton will protect their interests and preserve their entitlement. These sound like rich mean girls, pampered, snotty, insulated, spoiled cruel and haughty. Seems like their support of Clinton would be the ideal fit.

  • Kristin Piestewa

We love you, Jane. Me and my legally blind aunt were so grateful to have met you. Thank you for visiting us on the Navajo reservation. In this together ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ

  • Yolanda Valdez

Hillary supporters have such an ugly heart and are big bullies just like their candidate. Karma is a bitch. It will catch up on all of them.

  • Valerie Hunsinger

Are these the same folks who criticized Michelle Obama for spending too much on her designer outfits? It’s really disgusting to see Jane attacked this way. She is a classy, educated, down to earth woman and she doesn’t have to live up to a snob’s idea of glamour to be the FLOTUS.

  • hefalumpe

she has a phd in political philosophy and is a college president. but whatever a woman is, it is never enough….

  • OculusVeritas

I’m proud of Jane Sanders…..She is working on the campaign, taking care of things at home, and is supporting of Bernie …and always a lovely smile on her face.
Jane is highly educated and is very active in Vermont and especially on this campaign. She will make a wonderful first lady….No pretense…just an ordinary person like most of us in America. Have you seen the pictures of people in these rallies, GOP or Democrat? They don’t represent the “elite”.
A Sander’s Presidency will clean up the Presidential Act and make it real.

  • Rebecca Hosford

The @HillaryClinton site is a fake — I don’t know about any of the others, but be careful people. The internet is a slippery place.
And yes, I’m a Bernie supporter — integrity first, last, and always!

  • pph57

Wow, body shaming, sexism, classism, shallow…exactly what I would expect from GOP trolls pretending to be who they aren’t. Some people will do anything to ensure Democrats stay home.

  • Joey D. Gurberto

disgusting people! as disgusting as their supporter $Hillary

  • Susan

Jane Sanders defrauded Burlington College and the Catholic Diocese in a $10 million dollar land deal. She does their taxes. I wonder why he’s not releasing them?

  • Mississippi Truth

The lady ain’t ugly! She looks better in her inexpensive clothes than a lot of the so called movie stars!

  • miriam nyc

Typical hypocritical Clinton supporters. Why would anyone expect them to act any other way. After all Madeline Albright said about Sanders supporters, “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” And “feminist” Gloria Steinham said “Sanders supporters are looking to meet boys.” So why not criticize Sanders wife since they can’t say anything positive about their warmonger candidate Clinton?

  • Claudia Gomez

Jane Sanders is a real woman inside and out. What you see is what you get and we love everything we see and hear from this woman. Now try imagine seeing the real and natural Hillary on the outside and add up what is in the inside. The $600 haircut, the $3000 St John suit and the huge amount of concealers and designer makeup will not change the lying, deceiving and calculating human being that she is. #ImWithJane

  • OculusVeritas

I like Jane’s current photo-op above. Actually, she isn’t far from HRC in her style of dress.

Jane is a lovely person and she is American as apple pie. It’s time to get a First Family that looks like the majority of us. Have you seen the pictures of rallies and speeches? Just ordinary folk like us.

I’m sure that Jane will make a Lovely First Lady and I look forward to her in the White House supporting her husband, Bernie and to be herself. I can’t wait.

  • Nancy Gagne Walton

Barbara Bush was no skinny mini, either. Nor was Eleanor Roosevelt.

  • DianeB5

I’m a Bernie fan and I think Jane Sanders is a brilliant woman. I think these idiots who insult her are aberrations, not the majority. Most of them are probably Trump supporters posing as Democrats. Their aim is to divide us so Trump can win.

  • Tina

Jane needs a makeover the way Pat Paulsen needed to run for president.

  • FunnyFaceKing

Those are parody accounts, not Hillary supporters.

  • Sabrina Piccolo

To Bernie and Hillary supporters who are NOT resorting to sexism to support your views: good on you! We do not have to share the same political views in order to appreciate well-supported, mature arguments and opinions. Sexism is not the way to go, and I think any sane person would agree — regardless of whether you support Bernie or Hillary.

Sexist comments are unacceptable coming from ANYONE. When Bernie supporters make sexist comments about Hillary, it’s unacceptable. When Hillary supporters make sexist comments about Jane, it’s unacceptable. Sexism does not suddenly become ok when our opponents use it to justify their views. Neither Bernie nor Hillary supports sexism and the disgusting comments like the ones featured here, so to people making those ridiculous comments: how can you claim to be a supporter of either Bernie or Hillary when you make comments that the people you support blatantly discourage?

So maybe you don’t find Hillary or Jane attractive. WHO. CARES. I can’t believe we still have to explain to adults that a person’s appearance does not reflect their political views, morals, humanity, or leadership abilities. Bernie as president would mean having a 75-year-old, balding, arm-waving man in the White House, and Bill Clinton as “First Gentleman” as president would also mean a wrinkly, ageing man in the White House. But Bernie supporters who make sexist comments don’t seem to have a problem with Bernie as president, and Hillary supporters who make sexist comments don’t seem to have a problem with Bill as “First Gentleman”. Maybe it’s because of the fact that their appearances say absolutely nothing about who they are as people. That’s true regarding men, and that’s true regarding women. So let’s grow up a bit, stop using the “you’re ugly” playground fight tactic, and, instead, focus on the real issues.

  • FunnyFaceKing

This article might be more effective if it removed two of the top tweets, which are obviously from parody troll accounts.

  • Susie

I wish this article had not repeated all the ugly examples. It could have included additionally, if not instead, all the hashtags developed to overpower this trending theme. Publicity is publicity.

  • Katherine Lovelett

Can people PLEASE start using quotation marks around the word ‘feminists’ when describing these people?

  • Mawm

Yeah, I’m so sure that Tweet from the official Hillary campaign is real. This site is a joke. I hope you guys get over your derangement before Nov.

It makes me sad that so-called progressives would attack any woman in this manner. I know this presidential race is emotionally-charged, but it’s imperative we all keep civil, as we don’t know who the Democratic nominee will be yet (I am a Bernie supporter, btw). Whoever it is, we will all need to get behind that candidate and make sure a Republican is not voted into the White House! We need to stay focused and make sure this reactionary push-back by right-wing Republicans is not successful, because what they want is to take away all the hard-fought policies and laws we spent so many years struggling to put in place.

  • Paul Mcdonald

You realize the so-called attacks by hillary supporters are not Hillary supporters – they are parody sites. They are anti Hillary sites. No one is attacking Jane sanders

  • jan

I was thrilled that we would have a genuine woman in the White House as a First Lady. Someone that real women could identify with. I am not knocking Michele Obama but Jane Sanders would make me proud. I can’t believe how very shallow the people who are making hateful comments are. Another reason to not want to vote for Hillary she attracts vile people to her candidacy. Jane beats the hell out of that ugly former President Billy who is a womanizer. The only reason that Hillary didn’t leave his ass was she worried how it would affect her eventual run for President. Give me a break. I have heard that Jane needs a curling iron and that Bernie needs a suit that fits. I will judge them by the content of their character and not by their outer appearance. They head and shoulders above the Clintons.

  • jan

It is no wonder Donald Trump is doing so well. Even the Hillary supporter democrats know how to be hate mongers. Makes me so proud to be an American. NOT! We have plenty of prejudice to go around. Oh by the way I would say Hillary is overweight. I would say she weighs 165 to 170 and about 5 ft 3 in. I am not a supporter of her but her size has nothing to do with my decision.

  • Are you aware that many, if not most, of the Twitter accounts you’re referencing are anti-Hillary Twitter accounts?

  • Respectfulguest

I don’t get it. Hillary Clinton is on the heavy side, so why are these horrible people complaining about Mrs. Sanders?

  • Lucius

While I abhor sexist body-shaming of any kind, I am not sure if this article’s author has properly done their homework when it comes to who is behind these twitter accounts. One of the meanest anti-Jane tweets, for example, was from someone with the blatantly transparent screen name “hillarysuxnutz.” One might suppose that this person is not actually a fan of Hillary Clinton..? This seems like a false flag meant to stir a pot that is not there… or just as likely, a double false-flag, meant to discredit the Sanders campaign. Don’t take the bait.

PS: if it helps establish my pro-Bernie credentials, I am critical of Hillary Clinton for things like [1] voting for the Iraq war and [2] Patriot Act, [3] supporting the Honduran military coup which has led to the mass influx of undocumented immigrants to the US who are fleeing rampant violence and state repression in their home country, [4] taking speaking fees with a base minimum of $225k from Goldman Sachs, Verizon and many other unethical corporations, [5] hawkishly pushing for regime change throughout the Middle East, and [6] coordinating with Libyan rebels to funnel guns to opposition groups in Syria which then ended up in the hands of anti-American terrorist groups like Al Nusra, leading directly to the rise of ISIS.

Hillary Clinton is a scourge upon the world, and as Commander in Chief, she would make Ronald Reagan’s legacy of CIA-trained despots and death squads overthrowing democratically elected Latin American leaders look tame. I have felt the Bern, but I’m not about to get duped into this mud-slinging distraction from the need to communicate his key policy points to the general public.
