In the 60’s and 70’s there was a silent movement put in place by the elite class. The Powell doctrine corroborates this. It was essentially a manifesto dedicated to enriching the lives of the 1% at the cost of the 99% while dismantling the new deal in any way possible.
One facet of this movement was to divide and conquer the two party system. Let’s separate out the fringes on abortion on the right, and gun control on the left. Let’s get hippies in one party and religious zealots in the other. Then we’ll control both parties from the middle, we’ll buy influence in Washington and whether they’re Democrat or Republican as long as they are centrist / neoliberal politicians it doesn’t matter. They will do our bidding and destroy the new deal for us.
It sounds like a conspiracy theory when you really say it out loud, but when you look at history, and you look at the corruption rampant in America, it’s not much of a stretch to really see the whole picture. When you look at bits and pieces it’s easily to stay blind, much the way a puzzle piece may not give a clue to the full puzzle until it’s all assembled and put in order.
Bernie Sanders is the last piece in this puzzle that has been scrambled since the 70’s when Neoliberalism came to power chiefly with the Reagans, Bush’s, Clinton’s and even Obama. Voting for Clinton because she’s the lesser evil just doesn’t make sense…
Let’s compare just Trump and Clinton for a moment.
Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump on Trade Deals:
Clinton: Yes on Nafta, TPP, TTIP, and as senator she voted yes on 6 out of 10 trade deals that came up, no on two, abstained from another two but supported them vocally, she was just busy campaigning against Obama at the time.
Trump: He says he’ll dismantle every trade deal he possibly can. His platform has been highly anti-trade.
Hillary Clinton vs Donald Trump Blood on their Hands:
Clinton: Obvously there’s the Benghazi attack. There’s the regime change in Libya and Honduras and her vote for the Iraq War. I honestly don’t know that you could really put a number on the lives destroyed by Hillary Clinton. If you extend that to supporting the Crime bill and the number of people’s lives destroyed over small amounts of Marijuana that could have gone on to live meaningful lives as part of society, then there’s millions more.
She even idolizes and calls Henry Kissinger who is known as being almost next to Hitler as a genocidal maniac.
Trump: He’s fired quite a bit of people obviously in his line of work and on TV, lost people money in bad business deals. But as far as we know – nobody’s died because of any of that.
Sure he’s a bigot and racist at his rally’s but some say he just says what the crowd wants to hear. Remember he used to be a Democrat, and I think he’s more progressive than Hillary. There’s also the idea that he’s a plant by the Clinton’s to help get Hillary elected, would be funny if that were true but backfired.
I’m not necessarily saying vote for Trump, nor would I say give up on Bernie. My sincerest hope is that the Republicans find a champion to run as an Independent so Bernie has a reason to run as an Independent too. A 4-way horse race would be awesome to behold. It would also make history and get a large electorate out to vote, and when that happens Bernie would win by a landslide.
To be Bernie or Bust doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily write him in. What it really means is that you will not vote for anyone who is ‘bought and paid for’. It means that you’ll do your due diligence to research out every candidate and only vote for the progressives – not the neoliberals. If we never allow a neoliberal wearing the cloak of a Democrat to get elected again we can take back the country one election at a time.
Gary Olsen in a Letter to the Editor said it well:
To those Hillary Clinton folks who believe Bernie Sanders supporters are “spoilers” if we now refuse to vote for Clinton in the general election, my response is: How can we “spoil” a putrefied system that’s just given us Donald Trump and Clinton?
